<\/a><\/p>\nThe power supply I used, again as recommended by the manufacturer, is a 5 v supply.\u00a0 The sensor has a TTL serial output which was no doubt outputting a signal that went from 0V to 5V. This, along with a shared ground were connected to the raspberry pi.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, as I learned through researching why I was not seeing any serial data, the Pi should never be connected to anything that exceeds 3.3V.\u00a0 Yikes!\u00a0 I can only hope that I did not burn up the UART (serial communication device).<\/p>\n
I have a new 3.3V power supply on order but until it arrives in the middle of next week, I’m stuck.<\/p>\n
I also made significant progress over the last couple days getting the new service written for the weather system.\u00a0 I just have to modify one more file and it should be ready to test.<\/p>\n
Today’s results were so frustrating that I’m going to take a break and step away from the project until the new power supply arrives.\u00a0 If I can’t get measurements from the sensor, there’s no sense in working on troubleshooting the weather system service.<\/p>\n
