Looking into a build out in the crawl space beneath our cabin.  Will require some excavation and concrete foundation work.  Current head room is 12 ft at bottom and 3 ft at top of slope.  Curious if 1) anyone has done this before and 2) any contractor references for a project like this.

thanks!

I know Justin Dollar does both excavation and cement work and is a general contractor.  We really like working with Justin.

As well, check with John DeMetris.  He is very familiar with mountain construction issues!

Check him in the Business Directory:

Tim Mann is the man.  He did my cabin.  He rebuilt and expanded Barry Ward Reality a few years back.  He's truly a jack-of-all trades.  But more important than any of that.  He is fully trustworthy.  And an excellent craftsman.  Contact me if you would like to see the work he did on my place.  Or contact Barry Ward.

You can find Tim Mann at 209-728-9967 or tsmann@caltel.com

Bill Reed and his crew at "Exceptional Habitats" have done numerous crawl space renovations as well.  He is very easy to work with and does good work.  He is a general contractor and a licensed electrician to boot.

His number is 795-3264 or http://www.excephab.com/

Ditto the Bill Reed of Exceptional Habitats recommendation (and I put them in the business directory years ago).  They are currently fixing a big pipe break in our guest house caused by my bonehead winterizing process (or lack of process).

Yes we did as part of our knock down and rebuild to achieve our retirement dream home. Suggest you contact contractor Carson Scheftner; he is out of Avery; he can be reached at 209-795-1424-home. You are welcome to contact us for a look see at our home. Excavation was by hand....concete retaining wall to hold back slope, floor, walls, doors and windows crated a wonderful space in our sub area.

We are just finishing the work on our cabin. We are very happy with Mark Williams, who lives in Murphys but has done work in the area for years. Typically builds one major project a year, and our cabin happened to be it last year. We poured a concrete floor underneath the cabin and had extensive foundation work to to in the same area. Sounds similar to what you have in mind.
He is prompt, very reliable, and extremely reasonable with high quality work. Very easy to work with. It is a small operation he runs by himself, but you will not be disappointed. At the very least I suggest you give him a call at 209 728 8404  or his email is suncreekfillmore@hotmail.com

Mark Williams built our cabin for us in BTV. We found Mark a very capable contractor. All work very satisfactory, on time, on budget and as agreed.
He made the project an enjoyable journey.

We heartily recommend Mark and if you would like to see how his work has held up after 15 years, we would be pleased to show you our cabin.

Just let us know and we will invite you in on one of our trips up.

Don and Connie on Yana.
