Just thought I'd share some things about using BigTreesTech.com that might not be obvious...

COLLAPSING MODULES:
Modules are the rectangular areas on the left and right sides of most pages on the site.  If you click not the module title (if it has one) you can collapse and un-collapse the module… give it a try!

REAL-TIME SNAPSHOT SLIDESHOW:
If you click on one of the pictures in the real time snapshot slideshow (center top of the home page), you will be presented with a larger version of the snapshot which does not "rotate". 

If you right-click on the larger snapshot, you can save a copy to your computer.  You'll find that your saved copy is even higher resolution that the one displayed on BigTreesTech.  If you decide to use any of the photos on your own site, on Facebook, etc, please give credit to bigtreestech.com

CURRENT CONDITIONS:
If you click on any of the parameters under "CURRENT CONDITIONS", you will be presented with a plot of that parameter over the 24 hours preceding the last update.  Because we cannot assure that power or internet will be available, the last update can at times be as much as several days old but is usually less than 15 minutes old.

TODAY'S FORECAST:
On the front page, you can select which of several locations you want to see the forecast for.  The default is Dorrington, but as long as you have cookies enabled, what ever selection you make for location should come up again next time you visits.
Also, what ever location you select on the front page should be maintained when you go to the longer term forecast under the Forecast tab.
Keep in mind that you should not rely on this site for making weather related decisions.  Please visit the NWS forecast page or a local news outlet like KCRA.

RECENT TOPICS:

Sometimes, there is such a flurry of activity in the Forum that topics quickly get "buried", and fall off the bottom of the RECENT TOPICS module.  Registered members can go to the Forum tab and select "Show unread posts since last visit".  Of course, if you click on one of the posts in "RECENT TOPICS" then nothing will be listed because "last visit" is now.  In this case, you can use the search function and limit the number of days in the past, using something like "a" to search for..

MEMBERSHIP:
There are a few things that registration / membership get you that are not available to guest visitors.  The most popular of these is the ability to post to the forum and use specific features as described above.  Membership also lets you add events to the Event calendar.  Another feature only available to logged in members is the ability to add listings to the business directory.
There are no hidden areas on the site.  So, if you're not registered, you can still see everything, you just can't interact in some ways that members can.
One thing to keep in mind regarding registration… I am as careful as I know how to be to keep spammers and SEO robots off our site so if you're on just about any spam list, please choose another site to join.

ROAD CONDITIONS:
The Road Coditions module allows you to pick from a long list of California State Routes, Interstate Routes, and US highways in California.  The default is State Route 4, but any selection you make should be maintained at your next visit as long as you have cookies enabled.
As with weather forecasts, you should not rely on this site for your travel planning alone.  Please check with the California DOT site for up to date information.

Finally, don't you think it's a real shame that we have to caveat almost everything because some dolt climbed a ladder that he'd set in a manure pile, fell off, sued the ladder company and won?
